Established in 1839, Bloomsburg University was first organized as an academy where young people were instructed in education. Later, it became known as the Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1927 and was then allowed to award students with a bachelor of science in education degree. Bloomsburg University’s campus sits on 366 acres and is within close proximity and walking distance to downtown Bloomsburg. This location provides for great integration between on campus activities and features as well as what the town has to offer. No matter where you are on campus or in town you are just a short walk from where you want to be.
Between what is offered on campus and what is found throughout town, you will never be without something to do. On campus, the Nelson Field House is home to the Universities’ athletic fields, pool, high ropes course, outdoor climbing wall, Redman Stadium/Hale Field, tennis center, racquetball courts, lounges, and a gym.
